McKay Joins Industry Leaders at Electrify Queenstown 2026

From Sunday through to Tuesday, McKay was proud to be represented at Electrify Queenstown by Regional Manager South Island Becky Thompson and Embedded Software Engineer Brandon Munford, alongside McKay Managing Director Lindsay Faithfull and Naut CEO / McKay Executive General Manager Technology Fiona Bycroft.
Bringing together industry leaders, government, businesses and communities, Electrify Queenstown focused on accelerating New Zealand’s transition to a low-emissions, electrified future. Across the three-day programme, discussions explored renewable energy, transport electrification, climate resilience, solar technology, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and practical pathways for businesses looking to future-proof operations through electrification.
Fiona also took part in “The Electric Transport Future” panel, contributing to conversations around how e-mobility and emerging transport technologies will shape movement across the Otago region. The session highlighted the growing role electrified and hybrid transport solutions will play in reducing emissions while supporting resilient regional infrastructure.
For McKay, the event aligned strongly with the work already being delivered across New Zealand in renewable energy, electrification and infrastructure development. As businesses continue to invest in solar generation and battery energy storage systems to improve energy resilience and reduce operational costs, McKay’s experience in electrical engineering, automation and integration positions the business to support projects from concept through to commissioning.
The event also provided an opportunity to showcase the combined capabilities of McKay and Naut in the electrification and hybridisation of marine vessels. With growing demand for low-emission transport solutions, the two businesses continue to support the transition toward cleaner marine technology.
Electrify Queenstown reinforced the momentum building across New Zealand’s energy and transport sectors, with strong interest in practical technologies such as solar, BESS and electric transport solutions that can deliver both sustainability and long-term operational benefits.
