Branch Manager

McKay are seeking a manager for our Rotorua branch to support our growing number of contracts and customers in the region.  This position is a leadership role reporting to the Bay of Plenty Regional Manager to lead our teams and continue to grow the business further.

McKay is seeking a manager with strong people, project management and financial skills, who has a proven ability to work and develop a team while also having an ability to manage customers and contracts.  McKay is focused on delivering a personalized service at a business to business level, while making staff and customers feel like they part of the Family business.  The branch manager will oversee McKay’s current team base located in the region and be a critical leader in instilling the McKay culture. The positions will be diverse in that there will be an expectation to manage the day to day operations and from time to time be involved at a project manager level if required.

Line Mechanics

We are looking for great Line Mechanics to join our team across the Bay of Plenty, Waikato and Northland regions. We are looking for both permanent full time employees or for short term contracts.

With 300+ employees and branches in Whangarei, Auckland, Kawerau, Tokoroa, Tauranga, Hamilton and in the USA, the company has a number of significant opportunities for growth in the coming years.

We seek Line Mechanics with experience in line work and a current practicing licence.  Applicants accredited to work on Powerco and/or Unison operations will be particularly desirable.  A Class II Vehicle Licence is also strongly desirable.  We are looking for motivated people with the ability to work unsupervised or as team members, have great work attitude and good communication skills.

McKay operates a maintenance contract for Electrical and Instrumentation for OJI Fibre Solutions on the Kinleith and Tasman Mill locations. We are looking for an experienced dual trade technician and industrial electricians to join our team. Successful applicants will get the opportunity to undertake a wide variety of both installation and maintenance work for a variety of clients and sites including the Oji Kinleith mill site in Tokoroa.

Tokoroa is centrally based in South Waikato. The area has easy access to coastal beaches, lakes & mountains giving our employees and their families the opportunity to enjoy an outdoor lifestyle. The site is an easy commute from Tauranga, Rotorua or Taupo. Escape the pressures of expensive living and explore the opportunities that South Waikato has to offer.

You will be responsible for the electrical installation, maintenance and testing of electrical equipment and systems on site and the installation, maintenance and testing of instrumentation equipment and systems on site.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Ensure all electrical, maintenance and testing is carried out to the highest standards of safety, quality and service.
  • Ensure all instrumentation maintenance work and testing is carried out to the highest standards of safety, quality and service.
  • Liaise with supervisor and planners to ensure work targets achieved.
  • Ensure all relevant documentation is completed accurately and on time.
  • Provide input into assessing apprentice’s training needs as appropriate.
  • Compliance with McKay’s H&S policy and procedures.
  • Be engaged in providing feedback and undertaking maintenance delivery improvements

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Industrial Instrumentation Trade Certificate or National Certificate in Industrial Measurement and Control Level 4
  • Trade Certificate or National Certificate in Electrical Engineering Level 4
  • Current full electrical registration and practicing license
  • A minimum of five years’ experience in heavy plant, ideally pulp and paper
  • Hazardous area installation and maintenance experience desirable.

Applicants with suitable single trade qualifications with relevant experience and / or are part way through gaining the second qualification with relevant experience may be considered.

We are continually on the lookout for qualified and registered electricians with skills to work in one or more of the following areas:

Key responsibilities:
