From Apprentice to Registered Electrician: Leah’s Career Milestone

Since beginning her apprenticeship with McKay in August 2024, Leah has continued to develop strong leadership skills and the confidence to provide direction to tradespeople while completing work. She has remained committed to completing her theory and has been fully involved in practical tasks to build a thorough understanding of the trade.

Achieving registration is the result of years of dedication, training, and hands-on experience. It’s a fantastic accomplishment that reflects both Leah’s commitment to her trade and McKay’s investment in developing skilled people.

Leah’s journey to registration, from completing her theory to gaining hands-on experience on the job, has been impressive to watch. Her commitment, capability, and willingness to learn have made this achievement well deserved, says Alex Bruintjes, Kawerau & Tauranga Branch Manager.

At McKay, we believe our people are our greatest asset. Mentorship and growth opportunities are important at every stage of an apprentice’s journey. We’re passionate about supporting and mentoring our apprentices as they work towards achieving their goal of becoming qualified electricians, while continuing to encourage their professional development beyond registration.

Congratulations, Leah! We’re excited to see what the future holds for you as a qualified electrician.
