Pukekohe Wastewater Treatment Plant – Facility expansion and upgrade
The Pukekohe Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) needed a significant capacity increase due to the growing population in the Auckland region. Upgrades and new construction were essential to meet the needs of the surrounding area. Watercare partnered with McConnell Dowell Limited and HEB Construction Limited (JV) to enhance the Pukekohe WWTP, supporting population growth in Franklin and improving water quality discharged into the Waikato River. The upgrade more than doubled the current plant’s capacity, allowing it to serve up to 60,000 people.
