KiwiRail – Generator Fleet Maintenance

As part of our agreement to supply portable generators to KiwiRail, McKay was additionally contracted for the long-term maintenance of the entire fleet of generators. This includes both the generators we provided and those already owned by KiwiRail. These generator sets are essential for powering refrigerated containers used to transport temperature-sensitive products such as food.

McKay was contracted by KiwiRail for the maintenance of the electrical, telemetry, and SCADA systems at their sites, which includes:

• Regularly visit each site in order to inspect all electrical systems and make any repairs necessary
• Replacement of any equipment in order to avoid failure while receiving the best use from equipment
• Attend sites when an electrical fault has been identified in order to make repairs
• Make available electricians for when urgent repairs are required outside of ordinary hours

Because of the portable nature of the assets maintained by McKay and the extensive scope of KiwiRail’s train network, maintenance was conducted throughout the country.

Our excellent project management skills ensured that we provided prompt service whenever our maintenance electricians were needed. Additionally, we were able to dispatch electricians to remote areas for urgent repairs when necessary.
