BAE, New Zealand Inshore Patrol Vessels

Challenge

McKay was engaged in a three-year project for the design, supply, and installation of electrical equipment on four Inshore Patrol Vessels. The challenge was to develop a high-quality electrical solution that met the stringent requirements of the project, ensuring seamless coordination and meticulous planning. Additionally, BAE collaborated with McKay to design and supply electrical distribution equipment for two Offshore Patrol Vessels. The New Zealand Ministry of Defence was the intended end-user for these vessels. The challenge was to ensure the seamless integration and optimal performance of the electrical distribution equipment on the Offshore Patrol Vessels. Furthermore, Devonport Navy Base in Auckland, New Zealand required a new 50Hz main switchboard to fulfill its operational requirements. The challenge was to develop a cutting-edge electrical solution that improves the operational capabilities of the base.

Solution

McKay’s team of marine electricians and engineers demonstrated their expertise in delivering comprehensive maritime electrical solutions. For the Inshore Patrol Vessels, McKay designed and installed a fully automated main switchboard with automatic generator control power management, an emergency switchboard, Motor Control Centers (MCCs), distribution boards, battery charges, and lighting design. Through meticulous planning and seamless coordination, McKay ensured the successful execution of the engagement, delivering a reliable and efficient electrical solution for the Inshore Patrol Vessels. For the Offshore Patrol Vessels, McKay provided a fully automated main switchboard with automatic generator control power management, an emergency switchboard, Motor Control Centers (MCCs), distribution boards, battery charges, and lighting design. McKay’s commitment to delivering high-quality electrical solutions ensured the seamless integration and optimal performance of the electrical distribution equipment on the Offshore Patrol Vessels. For Devonport Navy Base, McKay developed and manufactured a new 50Hz main switchboard. With their expertise in electrical engineering and manufacturing, McKay successfully delivered a state-of-the-art main switchboard, enhancing the operational capabilities of the base.
