McKay Expands Presence in the South Island with New Regional Manager

McKay is pleased to announce the appointment of Becky Thompson as its South Island Regional Manager.
Born in UK, Becky followed in her father’s footsteps and qualified as an electrician, working in the trade for 13 years before re-training as a Quantity Surveyor. Becky moved to Dunedin in 2012 where she worked for Naylor Love for 8 years. Since then, she’s held senior commercial roles in the construction, civil and electrical services sectors, most recently as Country Commercial Manager (Fiji) at Fletcher Higgins.
In her McKay role, Becky will oversee regional growth, operational leadership, client relationships and business development. She will work closely with clients, partners, and the McKay team to build on the company’s strong reputation and support growth in the region.
Jacqueline Bell, McKay’s EGM of Regions said: “We’re delighted to bring onboard someone of Becky’s calibre to McKay to help lead our expansion into the South Island. McKay has a growing presence in projects in Central Otago and the Christchurch region. Becky’s local knowledge and experience will be an asset to our team.”
Becky is relocating back to the South Island with her husband, a fellow electrician, and family and is looking forward to embracing the outdoors lifestyle that Central Otago offers.
Becky joins McKay from 1 October 2025 and will be based from McKay’s Queenstown office.
