Mangere Wastewater Treatment Plant – Biological Nutrient Removal Facility Upgrade

The Mangere Wastewater Treatment Plant is the largest wastewater treatment plant in New Zealand, serving as a key piece of Auckland’s infrastructure. As part of the upgrade to the facility, McKay was engaged to provide the electrical and instrumentation services for the construction of a new Biological Nutrient Removal Facility at the plant.

McKay’s scope for the design, supply, and installation of the electrical and instrumentation works, included:

  • Full installation of the main switchboard, VSDs and UPS
  • Design and installation of a full package of instrumentation systems, including flowmeters, pressure gauges, flow captors, position detectors, level transmitters, pressure transmitters, level switches, temperature switches, and pressure switches
  • Lighting design and installation
  • Installation of all ducting and cabling for mains, instrument, control, data, communications, and security

On this project, McKay provided an innovative solution to the client, thanks to our specialist team of experienced electricians and instrumentation experts. These teams completed the work on schedule and effectively, meeting the high standards required for the Mangere Wastewater Treatment Plant, ensuring it will serve the community well for years to come.
