Matariki – Looking to our future by remembering the past
Reflect. Celebrate. Reconnect.
Matariki is a significant time across Aotearoa and here at McKay, it holds deep meaning. It invites us to pause, reflect on our journey, and look ahead with purpose, both personally and collectively.
The 2025 theme, Matariki mā Puanga, celebrates inclusion, diversity, and unity. In that spirit, on Thursday 19 June, our teams across the country came together to acknowledge Te Rā Aro ki Matariki. Our people shared kai, took time to reconnect, and reflected on the year that has been.
Looking Ahead with Te Ara Whakamua
As we move forward, we are proud to continue this journey through our newly formed Te Ara Whakamua, McKay’s cultural working group. Employee-led and ELT-supported, this group will play a key role in guiding how Māori values are recognised and embedded within our workplace.
Made up of voices from across the business, Te Ara Whakamua champions our proud Māori heritage and ensures it is reflected in our decisions, culture, and everyday practices. Its strength lies in its ability to evolve with our people, helping shape meaningful moments like Matariki for years to come.
By reflecting on our challenges, achievements, and the lessons we have learned, we create space for growth, and strengthen the direction of our shared journey at McKay.
