MGE New Zealand a division of the McKay Group is an electrical switchboard manufacturing company specialising in engineered solutions with operations spanning across New Zealand, Australia and the South Pacific.
We are looking for a skilled Electrical Fitter to join our company in our Whangarei office.
The primary focus of this role is to complete all switchboard manufacture to superior standards of safety, quality and service, and to ensure that all work is carried out profitably and all relevant documentation is completed accurately and on time.
The successful applicant will have:
·  Good communication skills.
·  The ability to be well organised and to prioritise work tasks, and exercise initiative.
·  The ability to problem solve.
·  The ability to read and understand electrical diagrams.
·  An attention to detail.
·  A customer service focus.
·  The ability to demonstrate experience as a fitter and/ or demonstrate appropriate electrical knowledge.
·  The ability to work under pressure.
·  The ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team.
·  EWRB licence would be advantageous though not a requirement.

Project Supervisor

We have a number of significant opportunities for growth and are looking for a Project Supervisor to join our team in Te Awamutu on an 8-month contract. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a team in the installation of electrical systems on one of our major projects.  
The successful applicant should have:
· Electrical registration with varied on job experience post apprenticeship (mandatory)
· Proven experience in leading a team of electricians and apprentices in a commercial environment.
· Experience managing a construction program, managing people and project resources, and understanding project components and deliverables.
· A strong health and safety focus.
· An eye for detail with an ability to question.
· Strong computer skills, specifically with Microsoft Office.
· Strong communication and relationship building skills, with experience in customer relationship management.
· An ability to effectively meet deadlines with conflicting priorities and perform well under pressure.
· The ability to start immediately (or as soon as possible).

Branch Manager

McKay are seeking a manager for our Rotorua branch to support our growing number of contracts and customers in the region.  This position is a leadership role reporting to the Bay of Plenty Regional Manager to lead our teams and continue to grow the business further.

McKay is seeking a manager with strong people, project management and financial skills, who has a proven ability to work and develop a team while also having an ability to manage customers and contracts.  McKay is focused on delivering a personalized service at a business to business level, while making staff and customers feel like they part of the Family business.  The branch manager will oversee McKay’s current team base located in the region and be a critical leader in instilling the McKay culture. The positions will be diverse in that there will be an expectation to manage the day to day operations and from time to time be involved at a project manager level if required.

Line Mechanics

We are looking for great Line Mechanics to join our team across the Bay of Plenty, Waikato and Northland regions. We are looking for both permanent full time employees or for short term contracts.

With 300+ employees and branches in Whangarei, Auckland, Kawerau, Tokoroa, Tauranga, Hamilton and in the USA, the company has a number of significant opportunities for growth in the coming years.

We seek Line Mechanics with experience in line work and a current practicing licence.  Applicants accredited to work on Powerco and/or Unison operations will be particularly desirable.  A Class II Vehicle Licence is also strongly desirable.  We are looking for motivated people with the ability to work unsupervised or as team members, have great work attitude and good communication skills.

Due to exciting growth we are looking for Electrical and Instrument Technicians to be part of the team within our Bay of Plenty region. Successful applicants will get the opportunity to undertake a wide variety of both installation and maintenance work for a variety of clients.
Your responsibilities will include:
· Ensure all electrical / instrumentation maintenance work and testing is carried out to the highest standards of safety, quality and service.
· Liaise with supervisor and managers to ensure work targets achieved.
· Ensure all relevant documentation is completed accurately and on time.
· Compliance with McKay’s H&S policy and procedures.
To be successful in this role you will have:
· Industrial Instrumentation Trade Certificate or National Certificate in Industrial Measurement and Control Level 4 / Electrical Trade Certificate or level 4 qualification
· Trade Certificate or National Certificate in Electrical Engineering Level 4
· Current full electrical registration and practicing license
· Hazardous area installation and maintenance experience desirable.
Applicants with suitable single trade qualifications with relevant experience and / or are part way through gaining the second qualification with relevant experience may be considered.

We are continually on the lookout for qualified and registered electricians with skills to work in one or more of the following areas:

Key responsibilities:

  • Perform quality construction or maintenance work to meet client specifications and current regulations and standards.
  • Ensuring the highest standards of Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality performance is achieved.

 Key attributes sought include:

  • You need to be a registered electrician with a current practicing license (or the ability to get a current license).
  • Sound commitment to ensuring Health and Safety is the priority.
  • Must possess a valid full NZ driver’s license.
  • To be self-motivated and proactive.
  • The ability to manage time and priorities.
  • Possess a ‘can-do’ attitude.
  • Thorough knowledge of current regulatory & industry requirements pertaining to the carrying out of all prescribed electrical work.
