Mangere Wastewater Treatment Plant

Biological Nutrient Removal Facility Upgrade 2017-2018

The Mangere Wastewater Treatment Plant is the largest wastewater treatment plant in New Zealand, serving as a key piece of Auckland’s infrastructure. As part of the upgrade to the facility we provided the electrical and instrumentation services for the construction of a new Biological Nutrient Removal Facility at the plant.

McKay was contracted by McConnell Dowell and Heb Construction for the design, supply, and installation of the electrical and instrumentation works, which included:
• Full installation of the main switchboard, VSDs and UPS
• Design and installation of a full package of instrumentation systems, including flowmeters, pressure gauges, flow captors, position detectors, level transmitters, pressure transmitters, level switches, temperature switches, and pressure switches
• Lighting design and installation
• Installation of all ducting and cabling for mains, instrument, control, data, communications, and security

On this project, McKay was able to deliver the best possible solution to the client thanks to our specialist team of experienced electrician and instrumentation specialists. These teams were able to quickly and effectively complete work on this project to a high standard necessary for the Mangere Wastewater Treatment Plant to serve its community well for years to come.
