Northland District Health Board Whangarei Hospital Maternity Ward

2014-2016

As a locally based contractor, we were the perfect choice to provide the electrical works for Whangarei’s new Maternity Ward to the Northland District Health Board and Canam. Having a local base of operations only 2km from the site meant we were able to provide expert service as we were able to respond to the needs of the client quickly and always had our great project management and engineering resources on hand. In addition, we were a part of the community that this new Maternity Ward was to serve, providing great incentive to provide the best possible outcome for the hospital and the area around it.

McKay was contracted by Canam to undertake the design, supply, and installation of the electrical works and switchboard and power supply, which included:
• Design, supply, and install the new maternity switchboard and six new distribution boards
• Installation of emergency situation systems such as UPS, lighting protection systems, and emergency lighting
• Supply and install cabling throughout the unit for security, comms, ICT, fire protection, hydraulics, and mechanical, along with cable support systems
• Supply and install light fittings and lighting control circuits
• Supply and install power outlets
• Test and commission all electrical works

This project is an example of what we can do when we work locally with a community. For a number of our projects we have opened new bases of operations in new cities around New Zealand that have allowed us to work closer with clients and shareholders to provide the electrical engineering solutions they needed. While we began in Whangarei we strive to provide the focus and flexibility that a local contractor can provide on every project we undertake.
