September 2019 – November 2020
The KeriKeri Wastewater treatment plant is a brand-new wastewater plant in the far North which will serve the township and enable those who previously required septic tanks to utilise the reticulated sewerage system. The new plant will enable over 2000 homes and businesses in the area to connect to the system.
The new plant will be able to treat 1000 cubic metres of sewage a day and can also be expanded to meet Kerikeri’s growth to eventually treat up to 2000 cubic metres of sewage a day.
McKay, alongside our subsidiary company MGE, were contracted to deliver initial electrical system design and engineering, in addition to the full scope of electrical works – including electrical systems, lighting, components, accessories and supplies.
The full scope of works is outlined below:
- Detailed electrical design (MGE)
- Detailed functional description
- SCADA design and implementation
- PLC control system design and implementation
- Electrical supply and installation
- Switchboard design (MGE), supply and installation
- Electrical and control system commissioning
Our MGE team worked collectively with our engineering team and Northland projects team to deliver a complete end-to-end solution for Broadspectrum, from initial design, right the way through to install and commissioning.
The treatment plant will now be able to operate with the highest levels of efficiency, with the McKay integrated PLC control system and SCADA implementation providing the council with complete visibility of water assets, functionality and efficiency
