Switchboards

McKay can manufacture type-tested switchboards from Prisma (Schneider) and Cubic. These panel systems allow the flexibility to customize switchboards to meet the client’s specific requirements, including any nominated third party equipment.

McKay Switchboards focus on producing switchboards for medium to heavy industry and the marine industry.

We produce medium to large switchboards for the New Zealand manufacturing sector and produce complex fully-automated switchboards with generator control for the Defence and Superyacht industry. We have also produced switchboards for large commercial projects.
Owing to the complexity of the switchboards we produce (most being ‘one-offs’) we have had to employ staff with a high degree of technical knowledge. Our staff are either fully qualified electricians, or have been trained as switchboard fitters.

We develop project specific documentation depending on specific client requirements rather than providing a generic document package for all clients. We are used to providing comprehensive ILS data (integrated logistics support) for Defence projects, so can meet any documentation requirements that specific clients have or would like to have. The McKay design office provides full design support to switchboards, providing design, CAD drawings, and manuals as required. We can additionally provide coordination and fault studies should this be required.

CUBIC is a fully type tested modular switchboard system, according to IEC 60439-1, capable of up 7000A with a 120kA, 1Sec short circuit with-stand. The switchboard can be sized to meet any application, which means we can provide switchboards with full bus bar access, but can equally produce compact switchboards, should the situation arise, particularly retrofitting new switchboards into existing room with space restrictions.
